Fayetteville 911 dispatcher charged with trafficking opium

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – A 26-year-old Fayetteville 911 dispatcher has been arrested and charged after authorities said she stole a controlled substance.

Ashleigh Kruger, who has been with the Police Department since November 2011, stole a controlled substance and was in possession of that medication when confronted by detectives, police said.

Kruger has been charged with two counts trafficking in opium or heroin and two counts misdemeanor larceny.

She has been placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.

Following her arrest, she was processed at the Cumberland County Detention Center where she received a $20,000 unsecured bond, police said.
