CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Rose Hamid’s olive branch is what she says landed her a spot outside Donald Trump’s rally.
The Republican presidential candidate took the the stage inside the Charlotte Convention Center Thursday evening.
“I just wanted to let people know that Muslim’s who don’t support Trump can get along with people who do support Trump,” Hamid said.
Hamid was handing out pens, decorated with a single red rose and the word “salam,” which in Arabic means “peace.”
“I thought it was sweet. I loved the little saying on it,” one Trump supporter said.
Hamid said she was inside the rally having positive conversations with Trump fans.
“Those are the reactions I was getting. It was such a good experiment,” Hamid said.
If her name sounds familiar, it’s because she was kicked out a rally for a silent protest in January. But Thursday, she said her pens sent her packing at the hands of a Trump staffer.
“He claimed that I had been at several other disturbances, which is a lie. So that tells me they have a prejudice against Muslims,” she said.
Hamid worries what life may be like for her under a Trump presidency.
“The fact that he wouldn’t allow me to be there says this is what America is going to be like if he’s president,” she said.
WBTV reached out to the Trump campaign for comment of Hamid’s accusations, but had not heard back as of Thursday night.
