FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – Fayetteville police are investigating after two bodies were found in a mobile home Thursday afternoon, officials said.
The decomposing bodies were found at a trailer park near Aberdeen Place and Old Shaw Road in Fayetteville.
While not releasing the names, officials say the bodies are those of a mother and daughter.
Fayetteville police said late Thursday there are no apparent signs of suspicious circumstances surrounding their deaths.
Neighbors tell CBS North Carolina that the daughter was disabled and that the two lived alone.
Jermaine Ervin said neighbors smelled a bad odor for weeks but didn’t realize the women were dead inside the home.
“A smell that is unforgettable,” Ervin said.
Police were called to the mobile home for a wellness check. One neighbor said she hadn’t seen the two, who kept to themselves, in a couple of weeks.
“You’d see them twice a day. Once coming and once going. I remember seeing them walking down the street,” Daniel Williams said.
The bodies will be sent to the medical examiners office to determine the cause of death.
