ANDERSON, S.C. (WSPA) – An 18-year-old’s blood alcohol content was twice the legal limit when he ran a stop sign and plowed into several trees, officials said.
Two teenagers died in the single-car crash Wednesday night in Anderson County.
Officials said the driver, Lenard Tanner, 18, of Anderson did not have a driver’s license, only his driver’s permit.
Troopers said the crash happened around 9:15 p.m. on True Temper Road, just outside Anderson.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Tanner’s vehicle ran through a stop sign, crossed Airline Road and hit several trees.
Tanner was taken to the hospital, where he later died, officials said.
The passenger, Calvin Chester, 18, of Anderson died at the scene.
Chester wasn’t wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, according to officials.
