CHAPEL HILL, N.C. ( WNCN) – Constance (Connie) Mahan, 62, of Carrboro, died in a head on collision Thursday night on Raleigh Road near the intersection of Greenwood Road.
Mahan was a communications director for PlayMakers Repertory Company at UNC — Chapel Hill.
The Company released a statement Saturday saying:
“We are incredibly sad to share the news that a cherished colleague and champion of theatre throughout North Carolina passed away this week. Connie Mahan, who has been a leader in marketing and communications at PlayMakers for 9 years, lost her life in a tragic car accident on Thursday night in Chapel Hill.
We are all still in a state of absolute shock and disbelief to suffer the sudden loss of someone who brought such life and such energy to everything and everyone around her.
Please join us as everyone at PlayMakers sends their thoughts and prayers to Connie’s family, friends and loved ones during this immensely difficult time.”
The crash happened around 9:39 p.m. when one of the cars traveled west in the eastbound lanes of Raleigh Road and was struck by another vehicle head-on.
Police say the driver of one of the vehicles was treated for minor injuries at the scene and released. Mahan was transported to UNC Hospitals, where she was later pronounced dead.
