WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, N.C. (WECT) – TowBoat U.S. in Wrightsville Beach successfully removed a sunken sailboat in Banks Channel Thursday.
The sailboat was towed to a wildlife ramp around 7 p.m. and the owner hauled the boat out of the water with a trailer.
The Wrightsville Beach Fire Department on Monday notified the Coast Guard of the sailboat after a passerby noticed it at around 11 a.m.
Chief Glen Rogers said the sailboat had sunk previously, and there was no one on board.
Rogers added the Coast Guard followed up and tagged the vessel as a hazard to navigation.
