Fuquay-Varina hosts first ever Veteran Owned Business Festival

FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. (WNCN) — Dozens headed out to Fuquay-Varina on Saturday for the inaugural Veteran Owned Business Festival (VOB).

More than 20 businesses set up shop on South Main Street in the business district.

Businesses like “Pet Wash 24” talked about their services — 24/7 pet-grooming — as well as their efforts to employ veterans.

For “Inspiration Metals,” the veteran and business owner wants to use his art to bring back the good memories veterans have.

“One thing that I really like is when people come up and they see the kind of work that I’m doing and they’ll see maybe a unit patch of the unit they were in and all of sudden there’s a connection like, ‘Oh wow I haven’t seen this in years!’ and you see that light come on in their eyes that to me makes the hard work so much more meaningful,” said Tom Zelickman, owner of Inspiration Metals.

Proceeds from Saturday’s festival will go to three military organizations, Military Missions in Action, Heroes United, and Operation 300.
