GARNER, N.C. (WNCN) — Wake County Schools transportation officials are meeting Monday night after there were delays getting Garner students home on the first day of school.

On Tuesday, there will also be a meeting with principals of the schools that are impacted by the situation.

The delays primarily affected Garner High School students with some buses running 35 minutes late, officials say.

The delays stemmed from Garner High School using two campus locations this year during renovations.

With bus routes Monday  afternoon, half of the buses went to the 9th grader campus and the other half went to the high school campus.

Buses heading to pick up the students from the high school were delayed by student traffic leaving the high school.

Some of those late buses then  caused delays with elementary school students.
