FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – Fayetteville police have released the names of a mother and daughter found dead in a home last week.
The decomposing bodies were found on Thursday at a trailer park in the 5500 block of Aberdeen Place near Old Shaw Road in Fayetteville.
Mary Belle Poole, 72, and Amy Poole Davidson, 50, were identified by police Tuesday as the pair who died.
Fayetteville police said last week there are no apparent signs of suspicious circumstances surrounding their deaths.
On Tuesday, police also said there were no signs of “foul play,” citing information from North Carolina Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Neighbors tell CBS North Carolina that the daughter was disabled and that the two lived alone.
Jermaine Ervin said neighbors smelled a bad odor for weeks but didn’t realize the women were dead inside the home.
Police were called to the mobile home for a wellness check. One neighbor said she hadn’t seen the two, who kept to themselves, in a couple of weeks.
“You’d see them twice a day. Once coming and once going. I remember seeing them walking down the street,” Daniel Williams said.
The medical examiners office will still work to determine the cause of death.
