NC grocery store warns that $90 coupons on Facebook are fake

SALISBURY, N.C. (WFMY) —  Food Lion is warning their customers about an online coupon circulating on Facebook that is fake.

The coupon tells customers that for the grocery store’s 60th anniversary they may use the coupon to take $90 off any purchase of $95 or more.

The coupon is not real, and people are required to click on a link to redeem the fraudulent coupon.

Food Lion officials said that clicking on the links has “potential risks” and they a working to have the fake coupon removed from Facebook.

Food Lion,which is based in Salisbury, took to Facebook to warn customers of the scam:

“Food Lion Fans,We are aware of the $90 Food Lion online coupon that has been circulating on Facebook. We advise all of our fans to avoid clicking or sharing this due to potential risks that are involved. We apologize to any customers who viewed this as a valid offer, and we are working to have this removed from Facebook as soon as possible.”
