GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WNCN) – An 18-year-old is being held on $1 million bond in connection with the robbery and shooting at a Goldsboro convenience store on July 11, officials said.
Tyquellas Jaire Thompson, 18, of Big Daddys Road in Pikeville was charged with attempted murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, kidnapping, and felony breaking and entering.
According to authorities, the Handy Mart Store located at 2495 U.S. Highway 13 North in Goldsboro was robbed at gunpoint by three men on July 11.
Wayne County deputies responded to the store in reference to a call for assistance from the clerk who was closing up the store when the robbery occurred.
The clerk was in the process of closing up shop when the three men approached him and forced him at gunpoint to reenter the store. Surveillance video confirmed the clerk’s account of what happened, authorities said.
Once inside, the clerk was held at gunpoint while one of the men went behind the counter and removed lottery tickets and tobacco products. At some point during the robbery, the clerk tried escaping and the suspects began shooting at the clerk, hitting and injuring him.
Ervin Lee Waters, 19, was arrested Aug. 18 and charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and felony breaking and/or entering in connection with the Handy Mart robbery.
Another suspect in the case, Khalik Green, is still on the run, officials said.
