COLUMBIA, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Maury County family is mourning the loss of a mother murdered in front of her two children.
The Kelley family says the 20-year-old mother, Lacy Kelley, was stabbed in front of her 2 and 4-year-old children following a domestic dispute.
“We would have never thought this would have happen. She was beaten and then stabbed multiple times, ” Lacy’s aunt Sunni Kelley told News 2. “This is their last memories of their mom, watching this stuff happen to her, and I just can’t imagine.”
Sunni went on to say that the two children were everything to the mother, who she described as adventurous and loving.
“Lacy was young and beautiful. Lacy could come in and smile, and Lacy’s eyes and smile would light up a dark room,” Sunni cried.
A face she says that easily hid the dark world she must have been living in with her high school sweetheart and father of her children.
“Domestic violence is happening every single day. It’s not the ones that you think it’s happening to, it’s the ones that are covering it and hiding it. Nobody would have known Lacy and would have thought this. She always had a brave face on, and that is the face of domestic violence.”
Sunni hopes sharing her family’s loss will save someone else’s life who is suffering from domestic abuse.
The children were not physically harmed and are now staying with family.
The accused murderer was also wounded. Police think he may have stabbed himself. The Maury County Sheriff says the man will be charged with murder as soon as he is released from Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Visitation for Lacy Kelley will be Monday at Heritage Funeral Home, with the funeral on Tuesday.
