No injuries after shots fired outside Charlotte mall

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Police said no one was injured after shots were fired outside Northlake Mall Monday afternoon.

The incident happened around 3:15 p.m. Emergency crews responded and the mall was partially evacuated before police determined the shots were fired outside and that there were no victims.

No one was injured and no one was taken into custody. Officers said the incident is still under investigation.

Multiple witnesses at the mall described a hectic scene. Several people told WBTV they heard noises that sounded like gunshots, and that people were running.

By 4 p.m. the mall was back open for business.

Officers said they will continue to patrol the area looking for any suspicious activity.

On Dec. 24, an aspiring rapper who performed under the name “Donkey Cartel” was shot and killed in the same mall.
