Large tree falls, knocks out power in Clayton

CLAYTON, N.C. (WNCN) — A large tree fell and took down power lines in Clayton on Monday night.

The incident happened in the Starmount neighborhood around 9 p.m., according to the town of Clayton.

The tree fell on Edgewater Drive which is in a neighborhood off of O’Neil Street. Residents in the area, which is near downtown Clayton, are without power.

Town officials said it would be up to 6 hours before power is restored.

There was no estimate for how many customers are without power.
