ROCK HILL, S.C. (WBTV) – A security officer in Rock Hill is accused of having sex with a minor.
Otis Smith, 57, is facing charges involving a 16-year-old girl. Police say the teen suffered from psychiatric issues, which is how she met Smith, a security officer at Piedmont Medical Center.
Police say Smith picked up the teen after she ran away from her home in Clover on June 30. The girl’s mother called officers several days later, on July 2, to file a report.
Smith took the teen to his home in Rock Hill where officers say Smith “gave her some type of medication to ‘calm her down’ and the two later had consensual sex.”
Smith found out police were trying to find the teen and dropped her off at an outlet mall in Charlotte with $40 and a pack of cigarettes, police say.
Smith was arrested Saturday evening. He was served warrants for third-degree criminal sexual conduct and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The investigation remains active.
