Woman charged after motorcyclist dies in Granville County crash

OXFORD, N.C. (WNCN) — A motorcyclist died in Granville County on Monday evening after a driver crashed into his vehicle, officials say

The wreck happened on N.C. 158 near mile marker 206, which is I-85, after 6 p.m., said N.C. State Highway Patrol Trooper B.L. Michael.

Victor Clay, 56, of Oxford died at the scene, Michael said.

The crash happened when a woman driving a car tried to make left onto the ramp onto US 158 and ended up colliding with the motorcyclist, who was heading west on 158, according to Michael.

Lalita Evans, 31 of Warrenton is charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and failure to yield, Michael said.

Evans was transported to Granville Medical with non-life threatening injuries.
