RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – Raleigh police said officers responded to the scene of a serious accident involving a pedestrian Wednesday night.
The pedestrian has died as a result of injuries sustained in the collision, police said.
The call came in around 8:15 p.m. to respond to Garner Road near the Interstate 40 overpass. Police shut down Garner Road between Calloway Drive and Newcombe Road.
Police said a man was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle. The man was transported to WakeMed with head injuries where he later died.
The driver remained on scene, according to police.
No charges have been filed.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
