24-year-old Moore County man drowns after swinging from rope into creek

LOBELIA, N.C. (WNCN) – A 24-year-old Moore County man drowned in the Lobelia area at Crane Creek after witnesses said he used a rope swing to enter the water, the Aberdeen Times reported.

Terry Robichaud, of Green Acres Road in Carthage, did not resurface after using a rope swing at Crane Creek.

The Aberdeen Times reported Robichaud had been swimming in the creek in an area known to locals as the “Hippie Hole.”

Emergency responders got the accidental drowning call around 5:30 p.m.

An autopsy is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
