NC man accused of igniting gasoline on woman arrested

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – A man accused of igniting gasoline on a woman in Albemarle during a domestic dispute has been arrested, Albemarle police said Thursday.

David Franklin Sutton, aka Howard Sutton III, is accused igniting gasoline on Kimberly Ann Edwards, causing her to suffer from second and third-degree burns to her face and upper torso.

Sutton, 46, was wanted in the case Wednesday.

He was arrested Thursday morning and charged with felony attempted first-degree murder, felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury and felony assault with serious bodily injury.

Sutton was taken to the Stanly County Jail where he received a $1,000,000 secured bond. His next court date Sep. 26.

Edwards is recovering from her injuries.
