GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WNCN) – A Goldsboro man and registered sex offender is facing charges after allegedly shooting a person on Jan. 1, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office announced.
Nathan Hales McDuffie Jr., 32, of 118 Mansion Lane in Goldsboro, is accused of shooting someone and also failing to provide address verification as a sex offender as required by state law.
Deputies responded to McDuffie’s home on Jan. 1 in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies learned that the victim had already been transported to the hospital by a friend of the victim who lived in the home.
Authorities processed the scene, collected evidence and then responded to the hospital to speak with the injured person and the witness.
Following the investigation, warrants for arrest were secured on McDuffie for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, fail to verify address/sex offender, and driving while license revoked.
McDuffie turned himself in to the sheriff’s office on Sept. 9.
He is being held at the Wayne County Detention Center under a $111,000 secured bond.
