Man charged after throwing gun from vehicle during Goldsboro chase, deputies say

GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WNCN) – A Raleigh man is being sought on charges ranging from possession of a stolen firearm to littering after throwing a gun out a vehicle window during a police chase, according to Wayne County authorities.
Thursday night, deputies in Wayne County were operating a checkpoint at Pate Town Road’s intersection with Alpha Court.
About 10 p.m., an automobile stopped at the check point, but sped off when deputies asked the driver for his license, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
There was a short vehicle chase, during which deputies saw the driver throw a gun from the vehicle, deputies said. The driver then driver lost control, crashed at the intersection of Pate Town Road and Spring Street and ran off on foot, according to deputies.
Deputies contacted the owner of the vehicle, who told them that the driver had been Michael Elroy Seaberry Jr., 23, of 2010 Booker Drive, Apt. B, Raleigh, the sheriff’s office said.
Officers from the checkpoint were able to confirm his identity, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies also recovered the gun, which had been reported stolen in Dudley, N.C., the office said.
Seaberry remains at large, but is being sought on charges of fleeing to elude, possession of a stolen firearm, driving with a revoked license, littering and resisting, delaying or obstructing police, according to the sheriff’s office.
