Men charged after report of Wayne County drive-by shooting

GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WNCN) – Two men are facing charges after a reported drive-by shooting at a Wayne County convenience store.
Goldsboro police received information soon after the first report came in that potential suspects were driving toward Goldsboro on Wayne Memorial Drive, according to police.
Police and deputies from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office cooperated to pull over the car and search it and the two men inside. Authorities found a 9mm High Point handgun in the driver’s possession, and “a small amount of marijuana” in the possession of the passenger, police said.
Carlton Jackson, 26, of 1405 S. John St., Goldsboro, was the car’s driver, police said. He was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, carrying a concealed weapon and driving with a revoked driver’s license, according to police.
He is being held in the Wayne County Detention Center in lieu of a $60,000 secured bond and is expected to appear in court today, police said.
Fiante Semaj Amerson, 25, of 111 Atlantic Ave., Goldsboro, was the passenger, police said. He was charged with simple possession of marijuana, issued a citation and released, according to police.
