The crash happened just after 6 p.m. at I-440 mile marker 1 near exit 1, which is the Mebourne Road exit, according to the NC DOT.

Earlier, several emergency vehicles blocking the highway after the wreck were visible in a NC DOT camera at Athens Drive and I-440.

Before 7 p.m., the right lane opened and only the left lane was closed, allowing some traffic through the area.  Just before 7:10 p.m., the other lane opened, but the shoulder remained closed.

A red motorcycle could be seen crashed at the scene.  There was no word about injuries.
