Raleigh man arrested, charged with murdering his wife

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – A Raleigh man has been arrested and charged with murder in the death of his wife who was found dead behind a furniture store Friday morning, police said.

Volodymyr Kocherhin, 51, of Panhill Way, was arrested Sunday and charged with murder in the death of his wife Olha Kocherhina, 44.

Neighbors said family of Kocherin moved out of their residence on Panhill Way months ago after living there for a decade.

Kocherhina’s body was found behind Kimbrell’s Furniture at 5109 New Bern Ave. shortly after 1:30 a.m. Friday.

Police said that she died as a result of “internal injuries.”

Kocherhin is being held in the Wake County Detention Center under no bond.

Kocherhin had his first court appearance Sept. 19 where he was given a public defender.

He is being held without bond with a scheduled court appearance on Oct. 10.
