RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A gunman jumped into a Raleigh woman’s SUV, robbed her and told her to drive off while he was still in the car on Friday morning, police say.

The incident happened at about 7:15 a.m. Friday while the woman was parked near the intersection of Big Cypress and Grey Paw courts, Raleigh Police said in an email.

“As she prepared to leave, the suspect entered her SUV’s front passenger door and immediately brandished a handgun,” police said.

“He robbed her of cash and directed her to drive away from her parking spot. As she complied, the suspect took her cell phone,” police added.

After a few minutes of driving around, the man told the woman to drive back to the same spot he entered the SUV, according to police.

“As she was doing so, the suspect jumped from the vehicle while it was on Lineberry Drive, and he fled on foot towards Lake Wheeler Road,” police said.

The suspect is described by police as a black male in his teens to 20s who is about 5 feet 9 inches tall and has a slim build.

“He had an Afro cut that was about one inch in length and had no facial hair. His clothing included a coffee-colored, collared shirt and blue jeans, and he had a backpack,” police said.
