DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – Hyundai Hope On Wheels and Durham-area Hyundai dealers presented a $400,000 check to Duke’s Children’s Hospital to help improve care and treatment.

The $400,000 total is comprised of two grants, a $250,000 Scholar Grant and a $150,000 Young Investigator Grant.

Duke Children’s Hospital was one of 34 recipients across the country selected to receive the grants.

“Although there remains a lot more work to be done, the innovation that comes from this research will ultimately help us find a cure,” said Dave Zuchowski, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor America. “To all the kids, families and cancer researchers fighting this terrible disease – you are not alone and we remain committed to this important cause.”

Hyundai Hope On Wheels is a nonprofit started in 1998 that is committed to finding a cure for childhood cancer.

In just 2016, HHOW will award more than $13 million in new pediatric cancer grants.
