Garner man faces new charges in Sept. 1 fatal 6- vehicle collision

GARNER, N.C. (WNCN) – A 74-year-old man is facing new charges Wednesday stemming from a fatal Sept. 1 accident in Garner involving six vehicles, police said.

Around 3: 45 p.m., Tyrone Pugh, 56, of Angier was stopped in his 2008 Buick in the left turn lane at that intersection Vandora Springs Road and Timber Drive.

Pugh’s vehicle was plowed into by a 2010 Honda Accord traveling south on Vandora Springs Road driven by 74-year-old John Bergman, of Garner.

Immediately following the accident, Garner police charged Bergman with driving while impaired and running a red light following an investigation.

On Sept. 21, police charged Bergman with felony death by motor vehicle.

Pugh was transported to WakeMed where he was pronounced dead.

Others involved in the accident were injured but police did not release their conditions.
