Smithfield Foods to donate 80K+ pounds to NC food banks

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – Smithfield Foods is expected to donate more than 80,000 pounds of protein to several food banks in North Carolina Wednesday and Thursday.

In an effort to raise awareness of hunger in the Tar Heel State, the meat processing company gave away food starting at 10:30 a.m. in Raleigh at the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.

Smithfield Foods will visit Second Harvest Food Bank of Southeast North Carolina at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
