ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WNCN)- Four juveniles escaped from a youth development center in Rocky Mount Wednesday night following an assault on a staff member, officials said.

UPDATE: 4 juvenile escapees apprehended, returned to secure custody, police say

The Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice reports that the juveniles ran from Edgecombe Youth Development Center, located at 78 Positive Way, around 9:30 p.m.

Officials say the four juveniles at large are identified as: Dakota Y. from Guilford County; Joshua G. from Wake County; Justin M. from Carteret County and Juan M. from New Hanover County.

Division officials say they have a high degree of concern for the safety of both the juveniles and the public, due to the fact that the juveniles assaulted a staff member during the escape.
