2 NC women — 1 a gang member — charged in man’s murder

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) — Wilmington Police arrested two women in connection with a homicide in Wilmington.

According to Cathryn Lindsay, spokesperson for the Wilmington Police Department, Cerrica Jackson, 20, and Kalissa Durant, 24, have been charged with first degree murder, armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

Lindsay says 20-year-old Jackson is a validated gang member.

The arrests come after officials responded to reports of shots fired in Wilmington Friday evening.

Lindsay says the shooting occurred at 7:55 p.m. in the area of North 13th Street between Walnut Street and Chestnut Street when one man was shot.

The victim has been identified as 34-year-old Antwyn Curtis Beatty of Wilmington.
