DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred Friday evening on Freeman Road and speed is believed to be a factor, police said.
The crash happened shortly before 6 p.m. when a Yamaha motorcycle being driven eastbound by Carl Capps, 40, of Durham, hit the left side of a Ford Focus being driven by Quentin Pressley, 24, of Durham, police said. Pressley was turning left onto Freeman Road from Obsidian Way when Capps slammed into his car.
A preliminary investigation shows that Capps was speeding at the time of the crash, police said.
Capps was taken to the hospital and then died a short time later. Pressley was not injured.
Police don’t believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the wreck.
No charges have been filed and the investigation is still ongoing.
