RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – Raleigh police have now charged a second man with murder in connection with a September shooting where a man was shot in the head and later died.
Travis Malloy, 23, was shot in the head while sitting in a minivan in an apartment complex parking lot on the morning of Sept. 23.
According to police, officers were dispatched to Walnut Woods Apartments in the 3400 block of Middle Branch Road at 8:15 a.m. in response to a report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers found Malloy in the minivan suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to WakeMed and was treated over the weekend, but died Sept. 26.
Daquan Timothy White, 26, of Raleigh, was arrested and charged with murder on Sunday, Oct. 2. He is the second person arrested in connection with the shooting.
After the shooting, detectives soon arrested Anthony Darius Neal, 25, of Raleigh, and filed several charges. His charges were upgraded to murder after Malloy died.
Neal is also charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The charge of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill relates to a second person in the minivan, Kedrick Daquane Thomas, 24, who was in the minivan but wasn’t hit by gunfire.
Both Neal and White are being held in the Wake County Detention Center under no bond.
Neal’s next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 17. White does not have a scheduled court date listed.
