CAROLINA BEACH, N.C. (WECT) – Ocean Rescue crews rescued two kayakers at Freeman Park Saturday evening, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
The call came in just after 7:15 p.m. on Saturday.
One of the kayaks overturned and capsized. The second kayaker had pulled his kayak up to help, when the 911 caller lost sight of both kayakers, according to Coast Guard officials.
Both men were found in good condition a short time later.
According to New Hanover County communications, three kayakers were originally in the water, but one was able to get out on their own.
The U.S. Coast Guard deployed a small boat and a helicopter to help with the rescue.
