GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Investigators and family members are looking for answers after a fatal fire that killed a young mom in Pitt County Sunday morning.
The fire happened around 6 a.m. at a home on Ashley Drive in Greenville and led to the discovery of the body of 23-year-old Tenesha Anderson.
“I just feel like there’s something more,” said Dianna Anderson, Tenesha’s sister. “I got a strong spirit about it.”
Tenesha Anderson’s mother, Phlis Clemmons, last saw her daughter on Friday.
“She said when you come back Sunday, we’re going to have a family day,” Anderson said. “We were going to go out of town. We never made it.”
Pitt County sheriff’s deputies responded to the mobile home on Ashley Drive Sunday morning after the young mom called 911 for respiratory distress.
When deputies arrived, the home was engulfed in flames, and they said they found Tenesha Anderson dead inside a bedroom.

Anderson leaves behind a 1-year-old son.
“Her son was her world,” said Jessica Dixon, Tenesha Anderson’s sister. “That was her life.”
Now her family is trying to make sense of what happened.
“I feel like there is something that we don’t know, and it just don’t seem right,” Dixon said.
Nina Woods, Tenesha Anderson’s friend, said she finds the death suspicious.
“She wouldn’t have went out like that,” said Woods. “Something happened, and that’s why the house got burnt, because someone was trying to cover up something.”
Her family is asking the community for help.
“If you know something please come forth and tell our family,” said Anderson. “Cause her son is going to grow up without a mother.”
Detectives have talked with the family, and they are still interviewing anyone who had contact with the victim.
Investigators said a young child and teenager were also inside the home at the time of the fire; but, they were able to escape. Deputies say the teenager is reportedly not related to the victim.
The investigation is ongoing and a cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
