Hoke County man killed in road rage shooting, sheriff says

RAEFORD, N.C. (WNCN) — A man was shot and killed in a Sunday evening road rage incident in Raeford, officials said.

Daniel Wells Cummings chased Eric A. Terry, of Red Springs in a rage and plowed his vehicle into Terry’s, officials say.

Deputies were called to the scene in the 100 Block of Gillis Hill Road around 8 p.m. where they found Terry, 31, dead from a gunshot wound inside his vehicle.

Cummings, 32, of Red Springs was taken into custody Monday and charged with first-degree murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle.

Cummings is being held at the Hoke County Detention Center with no bond.

The Hoke County Sheriff’s Office will continue to investigate the incident. More charges are to be expected, officials said.
