ABERDEEN, N.C. (WNCN) — An 81-year-old Moore County woman was charged Tuesday in the July murder of her husband at their Aberdeen home, officials said.
Margaret Francis Kellis, 81, of 676 Sand Pit Road was charged on Tuesday in the July 20 death of Dallas Leon Kellis, 76, who lived at the same address, Moore County Sheriff’s officials said.
Dallas Kellis was found dead inside his home and was killed with two gunshot wounds, Moore County Sheriff’s officials said.
Dallas Kellis worked as a machine operator for over 20 years at JP Stevens, according to his obituary. He was a member of Flint Hill Baptist Church in Robbins, his obituary said.
According to the Southern Pines Pilot, the pair filed for a marriage license in February 2011. Sheriff’s officials later confirmed the pair were married at the time of Dallas Kellis was killed.
However, Margaret Kellis was not mentioned in Dallis Kellis’ obituary.
Margaret Kellis was charged with one count of felony murder and one count of felony forgery and uttering, officials said.
Margaret Kellis is being held in Moore County Detention Center under no bond.
Her first court appearance is scheduled for November 7 in Moore County Superior Court.
