NC National Guard shows vehicles it will use if flood rescues are needed

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – In the event of flooding from Hurricane Matthew, the North Carolina National Guard will use tactical vehicles to rescue people.

The trucks can carry 15 people at a time, or even more in an emergency.

“We can drive through high-water areas up to 30 inches for a prolonged period of time, 15 to 20 minutes approximately. And, we can pull people out of a bad situation if need be,” said Sgt. First Class David Leary, a maintenance supervisor.
