The girl, who was visiting a friend and not a student at school, said the incident happened early Sunday at the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity House on the university’s Tampa campus.

The girl said she was assaulted while unconscious, campus police tell the station. Investigators later on Sunday arrested 19-year-old Dillon LaGamma, a member of USF’s Zeta Eta Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi.

“We take all crime seriously and we want to ensure the safety of our students and faculty and staff while they’re on campus or if they’re visiting on campus,” campus police spokeswoman Renna Reddick told the station. “It’s a serious matter for us.”

In a statement released to the station from the fraternity’s national office, the fraternity’s CEO said the chapter is temporarily suspended.

“We have instructed our students to cooperate fully with the university and local authorities as they investigate the alleged incident,” the statement read.

LaGamma was charged with sexual battery on a child over 12 and the university’s student affairs department is investigating for possible violations of student code of conduct, reports the University of South Florida’s student newspaper, The Oracle.
