NC State student assaulted during attempted robbery, police say

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – North Carolina State University police are investigating after a student reported an assault and attempted robbery.

According to campus police, a male student was approached from behind around 11 p.m. Friday while on Varsity Drive between the McKimmon Center and the Joyner Center. The man reported that he was assaulted and that the suspect demanded property. Nothing was taken and the victim was uninjured, police said.

The suspect was described as approximately 6-foot-5 with short hair, a heavy build and approximately 30-40 years old. He was reportedly wearing shorts and a white T-shirt. He was last seen traveling on foot towards Western Boulevard.
