SIMPSON, N.C. (WNCT) – A driver was able to walk away after he drove over a washed out road in Pitt County.
Gaberiel Simpkims said he was headed home on Simpson Street in Simpson when the road disappeared.
“I just wanted to get home so they had it blocked off with cones, but I thought it was just run over water and when you’re driving up here, it looks like it’s just water,” explained driver Gaberiel Simpkims. “You can’t see the hole and to make a long story short, I just flew into the other side of it.”
Flood waters related to Hurricane Matthew knocked the road out of place.
Luckily, he was not injured.
