FEMA crews work to reunite pets with owners amid Lumberton flooding

LUMBERTON, N.C. (WNCN) — Federal emergency crews worked Tuesday to rescue animals left behind in Lumberton during flooding from Hurricane Matthew.

Federal Emergency Management Agency crews rescued 10 dogs Monday and another 15 Tuesday from flooded homes.

Recovered animals rescued by FEMA in Lumberton go to the police station, located at 1305 Godwin Ave., or to the Animal Shelter, located at 255 Landfill Rd.

Lumberton has suffered extensive damage in the days following Hurricane Matthew. Flood waters have swallowed the area.
