KATY, Texas (KTRK/CNN) — There are different kinds of Halloween decorations – there’s cute and then there’s what one family in Katy, Texas has.
Zombie babies with red eyes, splattered in blood with a zombie mother looking on – and hanging from the house – severed heads and limbs.
“I think they’re cool. It’s more different than the normal ones you see,” said 13-year-old neighbor Charles Mechura.
The display gets a thumbs up from the neighborhood kids, but one mother who lives there wrote to KTRK in Houston saying “Halloween decorations are going too far. Young children should not be exposed to this while walking around the neighborhood.”
“I’m completely fine with it,” said neighbor Greg Pagans. He sees the display across the street every day.
“It’s their yard; they pay their taxes on that yard,” he said. “It’s hard to keep everybody happy, impossible to keep everybody happy.”
Pagans described the neighbors as “great neighbors” and said they’re parents of three boys ages 8 months to 10 years old.
The parents had used the crib in their display for their older boys until it was recalled.
Although the crib is real, the neighborhood kids knew the babies weren’t.
“Obviously I know it’s fake. You can see they’re plastic and not real. You don’t see bloody babies roaming around normally,” Mechura said.
The consensus among the couple’s nearby neighbors?
“I don’t find it offensive at all,” said Danny Juarez.
