VASS, N.C. (WNCN) – Two Moore County deputies helped save the life of a man in cardiac arrest Wednesday during flooding from Hurricane Matthew.
Sgt. Marty Key and Deputy Justin Carter were helping flood victims on Circle Drive in Vass when they received an emergency call.
Key and Carter located a 57-year-old man who was unresponsive and in full cardiac arrest. The deputies began CPR.
The deputies also used an automated external defibrillator on the man.
“We are very fortunate that all Moore County deputies have been trained to administer CPR, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and that all of our marked patrol cars are equipped with automated external defibrillators,” said Sheriff Neil Godfrey.
The victim was transported to First Health of The Carolinas in Pinehurst for additional care.
