Pitt County shelters transition to new locations

PITT COUNTY, N.C. — The three remaining shelters in Pitt County will transition to new locations Sunday at noon, officials say.

The shelter at E.B. Aycock Middle will move to the auxiliary gym at J.H. Rose High School at 600 W Arlington Blvd, Greenville.
The shelter at Wellcome Middle will move to the auxiliary gym at North Pitt High School at 5659 NC-11 S, Bethel.
The shelter at Hope Middle will move to the auxiliary gym at Ayden Grifton High School at 7653 NC-11 S, Ayden.

Officials say the transition in locations is intended to maintain adequate shelter space for residents and give Pitt County Schools an opportunity to evaluate options for returning to regular operational schedules.

The new locations will be established throughout the day on Saturday by Red Cross staff to prepare for the new shelters’ openings on Sunday.
