FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – A Fayetteville father is dead and a woman is safe after several men broke into a Fayetteville home and fired gunshots Sunday morning.
The man’s daughter, Tiffany, identifies the victim as Karlos Bembury.
The Fayetteville Police Department later confirmed his identity and said he was 42 years old and lived in the 5000 block of Blayne Lane.
Officers responded to a report of a shooting along the 5000 block of Blayne Lane at about 5:25 a.m.
Inside the home, officers found a man with a gunshot would and an unharmed woman.
Bembury was getting out of the shower when his attackers kicked the front door in and shot him several times.
Bembury was pronounced dead at the scene.
Family members say Bembury worked at Fayetteville’s VA Hospital and was well-loved.
The suspects fled the area.
Detectives with the FPD’s Homicide Unit are investigating the shooting.
