Raleigh man dies after crashing, hitting house and flipping over cars last week

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A Raleigh man who was traveling at 90 mph on Hillsborough Street before wrecking last week has died, police said Monday afternoon.

Phi Nguyen, 24, of Raleigh was ejected and critically injured in a crash in the 6500 block of Hillsborough Street between 1:30 a.m. and 1:45 a.m. on Wednesday, according to Raleigh Police.

Nguyen’s vehicle was traveling at 90 mph, twice the speed limit, when he lost control and hit a sign, tree, several parked cars, a house and then ended up in the yard of another house, police said.

According to a police report, Nguyen’s vehicle overturned and flipped over eight parked cars.

The house that was hit did not have extensive damage.

Hillsborough Street was blocked off for hours after the crash.
