HODGES, S.C. (WSPA)– A man has been charged with domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature after an incident with his wife, Greenwood County Sheriff’s deputies say.
Aaron Allen, 58, of Hodges, South Carolina locked his wife out of their home on Athens Court one night, so she had to stay with a friend, reports say.
The following morning, his wife came home and got into bed to take a nap. The wife said she remembered waking up on the floor with a headache and blood running down her face, according to the incident report.
The wife asked Allen what was going on and he then tried to tie her up with a cloth belt that belongs in a robe, the incident report says. The wife tried to get away and Allen wasn’t able to tie her up.
According to the incident report, Allen assaulted his wife for about 30 minutes, including choking her until she blacked out for several seconds.
The wife says she wasn’t able to catch her breath at one point and that’s when Allen stopped assaulting her and began to render aid, reports say.
Allen took his wife to the emergency room and he stayed there until they sent her to the ICU floor, according to reports.
The nurse stated that the wife had a fractured skull and that she was bleeding around the brain, reports say.
The victim didn’t know how she got the injury to her forehead because she was asleep and Allen told the nurse that he found her that way, reports say.
Due to the severity of the injury and to prevent further harm, officers arrested Allen and took him to the county jail to await bond.
