NC high school student charged in murder of Food Lion security guard

GREENSBORO, N.C. (WFMY) — An Eastern Guilford High School student was arrested Tuesday in connection to the murder of a Food Lion security guard.

Nature Maurice Williams, 16, has been charged with First Degree Murder in the death of Anthony Charles Smith on October 8, 2016.

Tips came into the Greensboro Police after extensive media coverage, which led to the arrest of Williams, police said.

Smith, 51, was working as an armed security guard at the Food Lion on E. Market St. when Williams came in, shot him in the head, took his gun and ran, according to police reports.

In addition to murder charges Williams is facing charges for stealing Smith’s gun. No picture of Williams is available at this time.

Police want to thank the public for helping them solve this crime.
