DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — Two adults and a child were displaced after a fire destroyed their Durham apartment Monday morning.
According to Durham fire officials, crews arrived on scene of a structure fire at 561 Liberty Street just before 6 a.m. Monday. Firefighters arriving on scene reported two-story apartment building with light smoke visible.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire within five minutes of them arriving on scene. Although the fire was quickly extinguished, the entier apartment suffered heavy damage.
Two nearby apartments were also damaged – one suffered minor smoke damage and the apartment below had water damage.
The American Red Cross is assisting the three people who lived in the apartment that caught fire and were displaced.
No one was injured and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
