RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — An AMBER Alert for a missing 12-year-old girl from Northampton County has been canceled after she was found safe.
Zahreiah Moni-Symone Gilliam had last been seen Sunday in Woodland at 6:30 p.m. at 507 East Main St. She was staying with her grandmother Saturday night until Sunday, Northampton County Sheriff Jack Smith said.
Gilliam was found around 7:30 a.m. Monday not far from where she was last seen, Smith said.
According to Smith, the grandmother left Gilliam for a few minutes and when she returned, she noticed Gilliam was playing outside. She called her granddaughter to come inside. When she turned around, she noticed Gilliam was no longer there. The grandmother called out and couldn’t find her. The 12-year-old was reported missing around 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
Authorities have not released any other details in the case.
